AI:AT is a joint project of AIT and Advanced Computing Austria. It brings together top-level expertise in high-performance computing artificial intelligence and data ecosystems creating an interdisciplinary innovation environment for research development start-ups and industrial projects.

AI:AT the AI Factory Austria provides access to cutting-edge AI infrastructure promotes trustworthy AI and ethical standards and serves as a hub for networking with national and European partners. The goal is to work with partners from industry and public institutions to develop and implement forward-looking AI technologies and viable AI solutions.

As part of the collaboration within the AI Factory Austria the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology will delegate experts to the AI Factory Austria. For our location in Vienna we are seeking a:

• You are responsible for building maintaining and further developing a scalable reliable and user-friendly software infrastructure for HPC and AI applications that supports the entire lifecycle of AI/ML models from data integration through training evaluation deployment to monitoring.
• You conduct requirements analysis and architecture design document functional and non-functional requirements and are responsible for selecting and integrating suitable open-source tools and technologies.
• You develop and operate unified interfaces (APIs SDKs) as well as user-friendly access points (e.g. portals self-service low-code/no-code tools) to ensure optimal usability of the platform for various target groups from developers to domain experts.
• You design implement and optimize MLOps stacks automation and orchestration solutions for all phases of the AI lifecycle including multi-tenancy security mechanisms and cost control.

• You develop and maintain practical reference workflows and AI capabilities (e.g. LLM fine-tuning retrieval-augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines AI agents) support model management and versioning and promote component reusability.
• You ensure traceability reproducibility and quality of AI workloads through monitoring logging and auditing solutions as well as by incorporating FAIR principles and compliance requirements (data protection AI Act).
• You work closely with stakeholders from industry research and administration and support their enablement and empowerment through clear documentation training workshops tutorials and office hours.

Your qualifications:

• Completed degree (Masters or equivalent) in Computer Science Software Engineering or related fields
• Several years of experience in software development ideally in the HPC/AI environment
• Strong knowledge of Python container technologies (Docker Kubernetes) and DevOps
• Proven practical experience in MLOps: Docker/Kubernetes GitOps MLflow/Kubeflow observability stacks (Prometheus/Grafana ELK)
• Experience with GPU computing and AI technologies is a plus
• Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) AI agents prompt engineering as well as domain-specific fine-tuning
• Experience with research and industry projects and/or knowledge of funding mechanisms and project financing is advantageous
• Excellent communication and teaching skills in German and English
• You should be eligible for working in Austria

• The position is funded by the AI Factory Austria until June 2028. An extension beyond this period may be possible depending on future project developments.
