Middle School Social Studies Teacher (2025-2026)

Overview

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to the duties outlined below in addition to those described in the Social Studies Teacher job description on file with Talent/HR for the District and those provided in the employee handbook.

Your scheduled work hours are 7:30am 4:30pm.

Instructional Delivery and Assessment

• Develop and implement Oklahoma standards-based unit plans and lesson plans that engage students in the study of history civics geography economics and culture.

• Design rigorous and relevant learning experiences that promote inquiry critical thinking and real-world connections.

• Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies to ensure academic growth for all students.

• Integrate literacy and academic vocabulary strategies to strengthen reading comprehension and written expression in the content area.

• Embrace and apply feedback from instructional coaching peer collaboration and data analysis to continuously refine teaching practice.

Academic and Cultural Support

• Collaborate with grade-level and content teams to support a joyful and academically rigorous learning environment.

• Build positive trusting and respectful relationships with students and families that reinforce high expectations and a strong classroom culture.

• Participate in school-wide responsibilities including morning duty hallway supervision lunch duty and dismissal support.

• Attend and actively engage in staff meetings professional development sessions family conferences open houses PTO events and other school community activities.

• Communicate clearly and consistently with families regarding student progress classroom expectations and instructional goals.

• Demonstrate professionalism by meeting deadlines maintaining accurate records and upholding school policies and expectations.

Qualifications :

• Bachelors degree in Education Social Studies History Political Science or a closely related field.

• Valid Oklahoma teaching certification (or eligibility for certification) preferred; endorsements in Middle Grades or Social Studies are a plus.

• Demonstrated ability to design and deliver engaging standards-aligned social studies instruction that promotes inquiry analysis and critical thinking.

• Strong organizational communication and classroom management skills to ensure a productive and supportive learning environment.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with grade-level teams instructional coaches and school support staff.

• Deep commitment to KIPP Tulsas mission belief in the limitless potential of all students and dedication to fostering inclusive and equitable learning opportunities.

Compensation and Benefits:

This is a temporary full-time 10-month position. The daily rate is commensurate with experience and based on the KIPP Tulsa substitute teachers daily rate.
