Job Summary

4-month contract role with a local authority

Summary
  • This 4-month contract role with a local authority is integral to ensuring that over 140 buildings managed under the Corporate Landlord function meet legal and corporate Health and Safety standards. As a technical position the postholder will act as the on-ground representative for the Strategic Asset Management Service ensuring the safety of premises and equipment through Health and Safety checks and accurate documentation of results and remedial actions.
Responsibilities
  • Uphold and promote the councils equality diversity and inclusion policies along with health safety and wellbeing standards.
  • Conduct statutory compliance checks in all corporate and commercial multi-let buildings.
  • Maintain and update records to ensure statutory compliance including data entry on systems like Civica and B-Safe.
  • Assist with incident control during emergencies acting as Chief Fire Marshall/Incident Control Officer when necessary.
Requirements
  • Relevant IT skills for effective data management and presentation.
  • Clear communication skills and fluency in English as per Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016).
  • Good GCSE Grades (A-C) in Maths and English.
  • At least 6 months of experience in a similar health and safety role.
  • Current driving licence (Car).

  • Working hours: 37 hours per week.
  • Location: Cannards Grave Road Shepton Mallet Somerset BA4 5BT United Kingdom.
  • Various working patterns including early morning and late evening shifts.
  • Enhanced DBS and driving licence required.

Required Skills:

This role is part of a team of staff responsible for ensuring that the buildings managed as part of the Corporate Landlord function (currently in excess of 140 buildings) are fit for purpose and meet minimum legal and corporate requirements in terms of Health and Safety. This is a technical role and the postholder is required to be the eyes and ears on the ground for the Strategic Asset Management Service ensuring the safe keeping of premises and equipment which includes Health and Safety related checks and the accurate recording of results and remedial actions.
