Job Summary

3 months contract with local authority

This temporary position aims to support the Councils Vision by delivering comprehensive Food Safety services in line with Service Development Plans performance targets legislation and Council standards. The role is designed to cover current absences in the Food Safety Team and provide additional resources to meet inspection targets. The position involves collaboration with team members the Council and external organizations to develop innovative solutions to environmental health challenges ensuring best practices and value for money.

Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to service standards and performance management arrangements contributing to personal and team targets.
  • Promote an innovative and inclusive work environment encouraging employee involvement and consultation.
  • Adapt to changes and utilize technology to enhance service delivery.

  • Comply with Health & Safety regulations and encourage others to do the same.

  • Conduct research and report findings on Environmental Health matters.
  • Perform Food Safety inspections investigations and audits using education advice and enforcement techniques.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to resolve Environmental Health issues.
  • Demonstrate initiative responsibility and a willingness to learn.
  • Undertake additional duties as required aligned with the roles purpose and grading.


Requirements

Requirements:
  • Experience: Significant recent experience as an Environmental Health Officer or Food Safety Enforcement Officer within a local authority.
  • Qualifications: Degree or diploma in Environmental Health accredited by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health; recognized food safety qualification; EHRB registration.
  • Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences.
    • In-depth knowledge of food safety technical and legal aspects.
    • Ability to manage a varied workload within a performance framework.
    • Proficiency in MS Office and Civica APP (Flare) software.
  • Personal Qualities:
    • Self-motivated organized and able to work independently.
    • Effective team player with innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Other Factors:
    • Willingness to work unsociable hours.
    • Ability to travel widely with a valid driving license or access to transport.
    • Good attendance record.

Requirements: Proven experience in conducting tree surveys Certification as an arborist In-depth knowledge of arboriculture practices and standards
