Purpose of the Role
The Senior Manager: Research & Development will provide strategic leadership and supervision for research research management development and policy formulation. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer the role will ensure the effective development management and dissemination of knowledge related to the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) supporting informed policy decisions and fostering international collaboration.
Minimum Qualifications
- A recognised qualification at NQF Level 9 preferably in Education Public Policy or an equivalent field.
- A relevant NQF Level 10 qualification will be an advantage.
Minimum Experience
- At least 8 years of relevant work experience in a managerial role involving research development publishing and policy coordination within a regulatory environment.
- International experience or exposure within the education sector will be advantageous.
Knowledge Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of the education sectors legislative and regulatory environment.
- Expertise in policy formulation analysis and development.
- Strategic and transformational leadership skills.
- Business acumen resilience and sound judgement.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities.
- Proven people management and mentoring skills.
- Ability to identify risks and opportunities and drive innovation in research and policy.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a strategic research agenda and knowledge management framework.
- Provide strategic advice on emerging trends in research and policy direction.
- Oversee knowledge dissemination of NQF-related research findings.
- Manage the planning delivery and quality of research projects.
- Establish processes to improve efficiency and enhance international collaboration.
- Secure external funding and manage related partnerships.
- Identify and mitigate operational and strategic risks.
- Ensure alignment of policies and initiatives with national continental and international trends.
- Develop and manage the units budget and ensure financial compliance.
- Oversee internal and external reporting.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
- Manage mentor and develop staff fostering a culture of creativity and continuous improvement.
- Build and maintain strategic stakeholder relationships.
- Provide strategic advisory input to the Executive team.
