We have vacancies in Edinburghs four practice teams:
North East based in Leith and Niddrie
North West based in Drumbrae and Muirhouse
South East - based in Liberton/Gilmerton
South West based in Wester Hailes

Our childrens practice teams are at the forefront of providing services to help children young people and their families deal with difficult situations at various stages in their lives: whether in need of child protection; looked after at or away from home; or at risk of becoming excluded from school or becoming looked after.
This is an exciting time to join Edinburgh. We are in the process of implementing a new service structure which will ensure that Edinburgh is at the forefront of social work practice. We are about to move our case management platform to Mosaic which will mean that our social workers have an effective and efficient case management system saving time and reducing administration all with the aim of providing our social workers with more time to see children and work alongside families to bring about positive change. We are also exploring how we can incorporate AI tools into our work.
Whether you are newly qualified or experienced all new social workers will receive a personalised induction process a named mentor access to a wide range of learning and development opportunities and regular supervision from a Team Leader.
For newly qualified workers we will support you through your Newly Qualified Social Worker(NQSW) Supported Yearwith a restricted caseload supervision every 1-2 weeks and all the tailored support and developmental opportunities you need to excel in your new role. Further opportunities will be available to help you advance in your career with us.
For experienced workers we offer excellent opportunities to use your skills and experience to support great practice with opportunities for career development and advancement. Caseloads within Edinburgh are set at a maximum number to ensure that social workers have the time to do their jobs well. Our practice is supported by Practice Standards which provide clarity on expectations to ensure the best service for children young people and families.
Candidates can state a preference for which team they would like to be based in at the interview stage.
Applicants must hold a Social Work qualification recognised by the SSSC.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. Anunconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
