Job Description:
As an Infrastructure Engineer at L3Harris you will be responsible for the design implementation and maintenance of our Layer-1 infrastructure and data center environments. You will ensure the reliability scalability and performance of our systems to support our business operations.
Essential Functions:
- Design install and maintain Layer-1 infrastructure including cabling racks and network equipment.
- Manage and support data center operations ensuring optimal performance and uptime.
- Perform regular inspections and maintenance of data center equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and network issues.
- Collaborate with network engineers system administrators and other IT professionals to support infrastructure projects.
- Monitor data center environmental conditions and ensure compliance with safety and security standards.
- Maintain documentation of infrastructure designs configurations and procedures.
- Provide on-call support as needed for critical issues.
- Strong knowledge of Layer 1 (Physical Layer) connectivity standards and network topologies.
- Familiarity with cable testing tools (like OTDR for fiber) and experience troubleshooting physical layer issues.
- Ability to travel up to 10-20%.
- Ability to obtain clearance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related lieu of a degree minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Proven experience in Layer-1 infrastructure and data center operations.
- Strong knowledge of cabling standards network hardware and data center best practices.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware and network issues.
- Experience with data center management tools and monitoring systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Relevant certifications (e.g. BICSI Cisco CompTIA) are a plus.
- Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
In compliance with pay transparency requirements the salary range for this role in California Massachusetts New Jersey Washington and the Greater D.C Denver or NYC areas is $77500-$144500. The salary range for this role in Colorado state Hawaii Illinois Maryland Minnesota New York state and Vermont is $68000-$126000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
