Position Overview
The Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery is seeking to hire a Support Service Worker for the Alton Mental Health Center located in Alton Illinois to perform a variety of routine manual activities involved in the maintenance of the grounds. Moves furniture and equipment from varying locations (civil 20% forensic 80%) at the facility weighing up to 50lbs and up to 100lbs with assistance. Sweeps mops scrubs polishes and buffs floors corridors halls living units day treatment areas and offices. Operates tractor for snow removal of sidewalks and driveways. Performs simple and routine maintenance of grounds keeping equipment. Secures worksite equipment and tools for patient safety.
Essential Functions
- Performs a variety of routine manual activities involved in the maintenance of the grounds of the Alton Mental Health Center.
- Moves furniture and equipment from varying locations (civil 20% forensic 80%) at the facility weighing up to 50lbs and up to 100lbs with assistance.
- Sweeps mops scrubs polishes and buffs floors corridors halls living units day treatment areas and offices.
- Operates tractor for snow removal of sidewalks and driveways.
- Performs simple and routine maintenance on grounds equipment to include washing greasing and servicing equipment such as push lawn mower trimmer leaf blower chain saw etc.
- Secures worksite equipment and tools for patient safety.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge skill and mental development equivalent to completion of High School supplemented by six (6) months experience in the support service functional area to which assigned.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50lbs and up to 100lbs with assistance.
- Requires ability to perform heavy physical work in lifting and moving bags of fertilizer and mulch.
- Requires the ability to utilize office equipment including personal computers.
- Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
