Join the North Central Health Districts Supporting Health Initiatives & Nurturing Equity (SHINE) Program funded through a five-year cooperative agreement with the CDCs Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health (REACH) program. SHINE is dedicated to improving health preventing chronic diseases and strengthening community wellness in Baldwin Hancock and Washington Counties.

This part-time position based in Baldwin County offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in your community. Candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance. The role provides up to 24 hours per week with standard hours Monday through Friday. Some evenings weekends or holidays may be required to support administrative tasks for community events.

Job Responsibilities

The Administrative Assistant plays a key role in supporting the daily operations of the SHINE Program. This position assists with program coordination communication and office administration to ensure smooth and efficient workflow. The Administrative Assistant also provides excellent customer service to partners and community members helping connect them with information resources and support.

Primary Duties &Responsibilities:

  • Supports administrative functions such as answering phones and providing event assistance
  • Processes travel expenses purchases and vendor communications
  • Monitors contracts and telecommunications
  • Manages inventory of supplies furniture and equipment
  • Updates calendars schedules meetings and sends notices or invitations
  • Represents the Program Manager as needed including taking notes and preparing follow-up reports
  • Tracks partner contributions (in-kind and monetary) related to SHINE strategies and activities
  • Provides outstanding customer service to partners and community members by offering information answering questions and resolving concerns
  • Tracks program activities and maintains mailing and contact lists
  • Drafts reports presentations correspondence and other documents

Minimum Qualifications

Associates degree from an accredited college or universityandone (1) year of job-related experience .

or

High school diploma/GEDand three (3) years of job-related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in computer applications particularly Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong ability to format proofread and edit documents accurately
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

DPH accepts educational credentials recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) as valid. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degrees diplomas licensures and other relevant credentials.
