SUMMARY:
Directs plans evaluates and provides leadership for the overall management of the Curriculum and Instruction and Staff Development programs of the District. Directs the activities in the four major content areas Professional Development student intervention and other assigned programs. Establishes effective PK-12 General Education Curriculum and Instruction that addresses the needs of students and is aligned with the Districts core values.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Instructional and Program Management
- Oversee the development and delivery of curriculum and instructional programs that incorporate district goals and support student achievement.
- Participate in the District-level decision-making process to establish and review the Districts goals and objectives and major classroom instructional programs.
- Ensure that goals and objectives are developed using effective collaborative processes and problem-solving techniques.
- Monitor and reevaluate instructional programs on an ongoing basis using input from teachers and principals applied research and student data to determine effectiveness and improve outcomes. Recommend changes and adjustments where appropriate.
- Ensure that the necessary time resources materials and technology to support accomplishment of education goals are available.
- Collaborate with curriculum specialists principals teachers and other instructional staff to develop maintain and revise curriculum documents based on a systematic review and analysis.
- Engage instructional staff in evaluating and selecting instructional tools and materials to meet student learning needs.
- Actively support the efforts of others to achieve District goals and objectives and campus performance objectives (academic excellence indicators).
- Provide leadership in staff development programs and ensure that effective activities that support instructional programs incorporate input from teachers and principals and are consistent with the Districts mission are provided.
- Participate in the implementation of the designated teacher appraisal system.
Budget
- Develop and administer the curriculum and instruction budget based on documented program needs and ensure that operations are cost effective and funds are managed prudently.
- Assist with the selection and purchase of supplemental equipment and supplies for the program.
- Participate in grant-writing activities to obtain program funding.
Personnel Management
- Evaluate job performance of employees to ensure effectiveness.
- Select train evaluate and supervise staff and make recommendations relative to assignment retention discipline and dismissal.
Communication
- Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with principals teachers staff parents and community members.
Policy Reports and Law
- Ensure that the Districts curriculum and instructional objectives are aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS/SE).
- Report to Board of Trustees required information regarding instructional initiatives.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Develop and maintain systems for retrieval of information in support of all programs; compile maintain file and secure all physical and computerized reports records and other required documents.
- Pursue Professional Development activities for self and assigned staff; ensure that Professional Development activities are aligned with District goals and initiatives and current professional research.
- Comply with all policies operating procedures legal requirements and verbal and written directives.
- Comply with the Professional Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.
- Follow District safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- Valid Texas Teacher Certification
- Valid Texas Administrator Certificate
Experience:
- Previous central administration experience in the supervision of curriculum and/or instructional personnel and programs preferred
- Three (3) years of experience as a campus administrator
SPECIAL KNOWLEGDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of PK-12 General Education Curriculum and Instruction
- Ability to plan effectively organize implement and evaluate plans for general and advanced instructional programs
- Knowledge of educational philosophy research methods and techniques of instruction professional development and current educational issues
- Knowledge of effective adult learning strategies
- Skill in collaboration idea development and deployment of new and innovative teaching/learning methods
- Knowledge of laws rules procedures and programs specifically related to the operation of elementary and secondary schools in Texas
- Implement the policies established by federal and state law State Board of Education rule and local board policy in curriculum and instruction area.
- Ability to exercise good judgment in decision making
- Ability to interpret data and evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness
