The WA Cares Fundthe first program of its kind in the Washingtonians prepare for future care needs. It will be launching a pilot in select counties in January and the full launch will take place in July 2026. This position will be a vital part of the WA Cares Provider Network Policy team.

Join the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) as part of the team leading this groundbreaking work.

What Youll Do

  • Develop and maintain policies provider contracts rules and other resources addressing the requirements for WA Cares Fund services.
    • This includes being the teams subject-matter expert for a bundle of services and the policies contracts or rules that relate to them specifically: Adaptive Equipment and Technology care transition coordination dementia & behavioral supports education & consultation and professional nursing services (e.g. skilled nursing private duty nursing and nurse delegation).
  • Develop provider standards to ensure quality oversight.
  • Collaborate with the Health Care Authority and serve as the teams subject-matter expert on ProviderOne functionality change requests service codes and coordination of benefits.
  • Render decisions on requests for exceptions as needed and assist appeals coordinators or program integrity on any hearings or investigations.
  • Lead independent research and collaborate in workgroups on complex provider policy topics impacting the WA Cares program our providers or our systems.
  • Collaborate with HCLA experts industry leaders community partners and stakeholders to leverage their expertise in designing and improving the WA Cares provider network.
  • Work across teams and with partners to strengthen Washingtons provider network.

What Were Looking For

Professionals who bring:

  • A bachelors degree in human services healthcare or a related fieldand at least 5 years of experience in program or policy management.
    Or
  • 9 years of professional experience in social services healthcare or government programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience and working knowledge of ProviderOne/MMIS systems service codes and coordination of benefits
  • Experience and working knowledge of service(s) for which they will be subject matter expert.
  • Knowledge of durable medical equipment and medical supplies.
  • Proven ability to write policy understand complex systems and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Experience building collaborative relationships with partners and stakeholders.
