Position Summary:
The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels of raw materials components and finished goods across all areas of the plant. This role ensures materials are properly received stored issued and recorded in the ERP system to support efficient production flow customer order fulfillment and cost control. The Inventory Control Specialist partners closely with production purchasing scheduling and logistics teams to identify discrepancies improve material accuracy and drive continuous improvement in inventory management practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and reconcile inventory records for raw materials (e.g. glass extrusion line components hardware packaging) work-in-progress (WIP) and finished goods.
- Perform daily weekly and monthly cycle counts; investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Ensure all inventory transactions are accurately recorded in the ERP system (e.g. receipts transfers returns scrap adjustments).
- Support purchasing and production scheduling by monitoring material levels and identifying potential shortages or overstock situations.
- Coordinate with receiving warehouse and production teams to ensure materials are properly labeled stored and rotated (FIFO).
- Conduct root cause analysis for inventory variances and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Generate and analyze reports on inventory accuracy usage trends and material movement to support operational decision-making.
- Assist in the physical inventory process and annual audits; ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on material flow space utilization and ERP data integrity.
- Train operators and warehouse personnel on correct inventory handling and transaction procedures.
- Ensure safe handling and storage of materials in accordance with plant safety standards and 5S principles.
Qualifications :
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associates degree or certification in Supply Chain Logistics or related field preferred.
- Experience: 2 or more years of experience in inventory control warehouse operations or material handling within a manufacturing environment (window glass or building products manufacturing experience preferred).
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (e.g. SAP Oracle Epicor or similar).
- Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
- Familiarity with barcode or RFID inventory tracking systems.
- Knowledge: Understanding of bill of materials (BOM) lot tracking and production flow in a make-to-order manufacturing setting.
- Soft Skills:
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced production environment.
