The Department of Surgery at The University of Wisconsin is seeking an exceptional academic surgeon with a clinical practice focused in Breast Surgery and/or Cutaneous Oncology Surgery to join our Division of Surgical Oncology. Candidates should be board-eligible or board-certified in General Surgery. Completion of a breast surgery or surgical oncology fellowship is strongly preferred but not required.
We will be hiring 2 full-time surgeons to meet our clinical needs. A focused practice in breast and/or cutaneous oncology surgery is strongly preferred. Candidates could participate in the clinical care of breast disease only cutaneous oncology only or a mix of both.
Candidates interested in providing breast clinical care should be capable of evaluating and managing benign and malignant disease of the breast. Candidates should be comfortable engaging with a cohesive multi-disciplinary team that includes other breast surgeons medical oncologists radiation oncologists breast radiologists reconstructive surgeons and pathologists.
Candidates interested in providing cutaneous oncology clinical care should be capable of managing a range of disease including melanoma Merkel cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. Candidates should be comfortable engaging with a cohesive and multi-disciplinary team that includes other surgical oncologists medical oncologists radiation oncologists reconstructive surgeons dermatologists and dermatopathologists.
The selected finalist will have excellent communication skills and is a reliable team player. They will be able to demonstrate a track record of clinical excellence and academic contributions through education and/or research.
Applicants for this position will be considered for the following titles: Assistant Professor Associate Professor Professor on the Clinical Health Science (CHS) track and Clinical Assistant Professor Clinical Associate Professor and Clinical Professor on the Clinical Teaching (CT) Track. The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.

The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and then every two years.

Support for research and/or programmatic participation/development will also be considered.
Service and Teaching
Teach medical students residents and fellows
Participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.
Clinical
Elective inpatient and outpatient practice will primarily occur at University Hospital and Eastpark Medical Center. A new state-of-the-art outpatient clinic at The Eastpark Medical Center is an outpatient clinic that opened in 2025 and includes multi-disciplinary breast and cutaneous oncology clinics. UW Health is accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers and the Commission on Cancer.
Additional clinical opportunities may exist at UW Health Northern Illinois in Rockford IL.
School of Medicine and Public Health / Department of Surgery / Division of Surgical Oncology
Research: The Department of Surgery supports basic translational and clinical outcomes research. One example is the Wisconsin Surgical Outcomes Research Program (WiSOR) which provides support resources and a collaborative environment to facilitate surgical health services research at the University of Wisconsin. The Departments Office of Clinical Research provides clinical trial coordinator support for Clinical Trials as well regulatory support for research and the grants management team provides comprehensive pre-award to post-award support. The Surgical Collaborative of Wisconsin also provides access to a network of surgeons throughout the state and this platform provides opportunities for collaborative quality improvement that improves the care of surgical patients throughout the state and region.
Education: The Department of Surgery is a leader in surgical education and surgical education research. The department includes three residencies and nine fellowship training programs with robust support for these efforts. The department is also committed to surgical education research which combines the efforts of educators surgeons and learning scientists both at and outside the university.

Candidate is required to have a Wisconsin medical license by the appointment start date.
Board certification or board eligibility from the American Board of Surgery American Osteopathic Board of Surgery or equivalent is required by the appointment start date.
Must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges by the appointment start date.
Completion of a fellowship in Surgical Oncology and/or Breast Surgery by appointment start date is strongly preferred
