MISSION STATEMENT

The Montana Department of Revenue administers almost 40 state taxes property appraisals alcoholic beverage laws cannabis laws and unclaimed property for the state of Montana. The Information Management and Collections Division serves Montana citizens and businesses through processing tax returns refunds and payments timely and accurately integrating improved technology to enhance the user experience increasing electronic filing resolving overdue debt and collection other state debt.

DUTIES

Job Overview:

This position resides in the Information Management and Collections Division of Department of Revenue. The incumbent supports the departments Records and Information Management (RIM) program by coordinating planning efforts evaluating processes and ensuring consistent implementation across the agency. Responsibilities include providing training and guidance to staff assisting with record classification and promoting agency initiatives to internal and external stakeholders. This role also contributes to the integration of records and information management practices within the agencys broader data governance framework and monitors program activities to support continuous improvement. This position reports to the Information Governance Unit Manager and does not supervise other staff.

Working Conditions

  • Work hours may exceed 40 hours from time to time including weekends.

REMOTE/TELEWORK: This position may be eligible to work from an approved worksite however the successful candidate must be a primary resident of Montana as a condition of employment. This position would be required to report to a Department of Revenue office assigned by the supervisor. Employees must meet and sustain Department of Revenue telework eligibility requirements and supervisors approval to participate in the DOR Telework Program. Fulltime telework is not available.

Training Assignment:This agency may use a training assignment. Employees in training assignments may be paid below the base pay established by the agency pay rules. Conditions of the training assignment will be stated in writing at the time of hire.

Successful applicants are required to successfully pass DOR tax and background check(s).

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

The minimum level needed on the first day of work is:

Associate degree or equivalent work experience in computer science management information systems business administration or related field and

Two years of job-related experience with two years experience in tax administration performing detailed technical work data processing technical troubleshooting support role application support experience working with external clients and providing support for online applications and documenting requirements for online or desktop software.

Other combinations of education and equivalent work experience will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
