Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide skilled nursing care within a pediatric unit focusing on pediatric medical-surgical and step-down/telemetry patients. The role involves administering medications managing IVs providing respiratory support and ensuring infection prevention all while working collaboratively with the healthcare team.

Responsibilities:
- Provide skilled nursing care to pediatric patients in a 16-bed unit.
- Administer medications including insulin and calculate pediatric dosages accurately.
- Manage peripheral IV lines start and maintain IVs and perform phlebotomy.
- Provide respiratory support including oral/nasal suctioning and managing oxygen delivery systems.
- Support breastfeeding and handle breast milk administer feedings (bottle breast gavage) and place oral/nasogastric tubes.
- Assess and care for wounds and implement infection prevention and isolation precautions.
- Monitor and manage patients with hyperbilirubinemia.
- Document patient care and related duties in the EMR system.
- Float within scope to meet facility needs.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Pediatric MedSurg or Pediatric Step Down/Telemetry.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Illinois or active application with ETA.
- BLS certification.
- PALS certification.
- Experience with EMR systems.
- Skills in Peripheral Line Care/Management Starting and maintaining IVs.
- Skills in Oral/ nasal Suctioning Oxygen Delivery Systems.
- Skills in Infection Prevention Isolation Precautions Wound assessment/care.
- Skills in Hyperbilirubinemia Insulin administration.
- Skills in Breastfeeding Support/Handling of Breast Milk Feedings (bottle breast gavage) Placement of oral/nasogastric tubes.
- Skills in Pediatric Dosage Calculations.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- None specified.
Special Considerations:
- Will work every other weekend.
- Will float as needed within scope to meet facility needs.
- RTO (request time off) ideally no more than 5 days.
- Client may call-off up to 36 hours per thirteen-week assignment without pay.
Scheduling:
- Night shifts (1800-0630).
- Discuss schedule requests with manager open to accommodating block schedules.
