A healthcare facility in Ottumwa IA is seeking a skilled and compassionate Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) to join its Emergency Services team. This role involves providing high-quality patient-centered nursing care to acutely ill and injured patients across the lifespan. The ED RN utilizes strong clinical judgment critical thinking prioritization and time management skills to deliver safe effective care in a fast-paced emergency environment while practicing within the scope defined by the Iowa State Board of Nursing.
About the Emergency Department-
18-bed Emergency Room

Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4

Multidisciplinary team including RNs ED technicians and unit secretaries
-
Patient population includes a wide range of emergency conditions with a focus on respiratory failure and cardiac cases
-
Provide direct nursing care to emergency patients with acute and complex conditions
-
Perform comprehensive patient assessments and respond to changes in condition
-
Administer medications treatments and procedures according to provider orders and protocols
-
Utilize the nursing process to plan implement and evaluate patient care
-
Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare team members
-
Accurately document patient care assessments and outcomes
-
Maintain compliance with safety standards policies and regulatory requirements
-
Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program
-
Current unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa or Compact State
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
-
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within six (6) months of hire
-
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within six (6) months of hire
-
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) within six (6) months of hire
-
Recent RN experience
-
One (1) year of Medical/Surgical or Critical Care nursing experience
-
One (1) year of Emergency Department nursing experience
-
One (1) year of Psychiatry nursing experience
