About the role: Aurizon is seeking a Lead Financial Analyst to join the Containerised Freight Finance team. This role will focus on providing commercial and capital insights that drive sound investment decisions and support the growth of Aurizons containerised freight operations.

Youll play a key role in building financial models evaluating investment opportunities and challenging business assumptions to ensure decisions are commercially robust and aligned to Aurizons strategic objectives. While this is a senior-level position it does not have any direct reports instead operating as a trusted business partner to commercial and operational leaders across the business.

Key responsibilities

Provide strategic commercial and financial analysis to support business performance and investment decisions.
Build develop and maintain complex financial and valuation models for business cases capital projects and commercial initiatives.
Challenge assumptions and influence decision-making to ensure value creation and risk mitigation.
Partner with operational and commercial teams to deliver meaningful insights and performance reporting.
Support major commercial and capital projects through analysis tracking and post-implementation review.
Identify and implement initiatives to enhance business performance and financial governance.

About you

Youre commercially minded analytical and confident engaging with senior stakeholders to influence business outcomes. Youll bring:

A degree in Commerce Finance Economics or a related discipline.
Experience gained in a Big 4 environment or within heavy industry with a focus on commercial analysis investment appraisal or business partnering.
Proven experience in financial modelling investment evaluation and strategic analysis.
Strong communication skills and the confidence to challenge the status quo with well-founded commercial reasoning.
The ability to balance strategic insight with hands-on analytical delivery.
