Working 36.5 hours per week

Are you an enthusiastic and customer focused individual with administrative experience who enjoys working in a busy environment Maybe you have worked in a polling station or at the count or simply counted before and want to know what happens behind the scenes

You will work as part of a team which is responsible for compiling an accurate electoral register implementing statutory procedures and administering free and fair elections and referendums in the largest local authority in the country. You will work for an authority with an electorate of over 700000 electors covering 69 wards and 10 parliamentary constituencies.

With the introduction of the Elections Act 2022 Electoral Services is a challenging and ever-changing environment. You will support the wider team in the delivery of the new changes.

There will be a degree of flexibility around working from home however during the pre-election and canvass periods there will be a requirement to be office based potentially on a full-time basis. During these periods you will be required to work under pressure and balance conflicting priorities for prolonged periods of time and there may be a requirement to work unsociable hours. There could also be restrictions on taking leave during these busy periods.

Do you have:

  • Experience of clerical/administrative work
  • An understanding of Elections and voting
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office software
  • Good communication skills
  • The ability to work in a pressurised environment with competing work priorities and strict deadlines
