The Senior Common Room (SCR) under the administration of the University Campus Services Office (CSO) is seeking a high calibre individual to join the team as Club Executive Manager. The CSO is a newly established unit to unify the management of various service entities including catering services on-campus business outlets senior staff club postgraduate residences and future operations of guest accommodations and staff quarters. The aims are fostering a service-oriented culture improving operational efficiency and ensure the long-term financial sustainability of these units by taking a more dynamic business approach.
Role summary
The appointee will oversee the supporting functions of a senior staff club that serves senior members of The University of Hong Kong including faculties academics senior staff research postgraduates and their respective guests. Apart from the provision of regular catering services the staff club is also destinations for various official activities and events such as banquets guest receptions seminar meetings and alike for its members and guests. The main roles of the appointee will be:
- Hands-on business-savvy manager for a senior staff club in The University of Hong Kong
- Own the club P&L membership and operations with a strong focus in F&B/catering membership loyalty management and stakeholders liaison
- Lead the Club Executive Team; report to the Universitys authorized representatives and the Club Executive Committee
- Act as primary contact for members faculties and key stakeholders
Detailed Responsibilities
- Club Operations: Lead the club executive team to manage club operations including services housekeeping maintenance and marketing of the club and its related operations; liaise with the club operation team to deliver consistent members-oriented service; drive and achieve revenue target
- Membership: Manage lifecycle for 2000 members (applications renewals resignations data billing); build strong relationship with existing and potential club members lead retention/acquisition loyalty benefits communications; handle service standards and complaint resolution
- F&B and catering: Partner with catering/events leads on costing pricing margins event packages promotions; review outlet/banquet KPIs and feedback; support event sales with costing profitability analyses and post-event reviews
- Management reporting: Own P&L across membership F&B events and ancillary services; manage cash flow month-end closing budgets forecasts and long-range plans; produce timely reports/dashboards; analyze variances and outlet performance; support capex cases and ROI; ensure compliance and internal controls; liaise with auditors
- Governance and administration: Coordinate Club Executive Committee meetings and AGM (schedule agenda materials minutes action tracking); maintain statutory/club records; support licensing and inspections; ensure compliance with F&B liquor and health/safety regulations
- Leadership and systems: Lead and coach the Club Executive Team
- Other tasks as assigned by the Director (the Universitys authorized representatives)
Qualities and Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Business Administration Accounting Hospitality Management or related disciplines; a higher degree is preferred;
- 610 years of solid experience in managing a high-quality clubhouse with exclusive membership tertiary institution hotels or leading hospitality groups; having experience in catering/banquet costing is a plus;
- Proven P&L ownership and profitability improvement for F&B/club operations is a plus;
- Strong budgeting forecasting variance analysis and management accounting skills and knowledge;
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication; fluent in English Cantonese and Putonghua;
- Strategic hands-on leader who coaches teams and upholds service excellence strong market awareness;
- Willing to work in the evenings/weekends for events and peak periods; may involve occasional off-campus or outside normal office hours work.
What We Offer
The appointment will be made on a fixed-term full-time contract for two years to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme totaling up to 10% of basic salary.
