Environment Manager (HumeLink West Project)

Two CIMIC Group companies UGL and CPB Contractors have been selected by Transgrid to deliver the 140km western section of the HumeLink high voltage electricity transmission project.

HumeLink is a new 500kV transmission project which will connect Wagga Wagga Maragle and Bannaby in regional NSW that will significantly increase the capacity of the electricity network in Australias eastern states. HumeLink is one of Australias largest energy infrastructure projects with about 365kms of proposed new transmission lines and a range of other new and upgraded infrastructure.

The HumeLink West scope of works worth $1.4bn includes delivery of new 500kV double circuit transmission lines spanning 140kms from Wagga Wagga Substation to a new Substation at Gugaa the Interface Point with HumeLink East near Gundagai and a new substation at Maragle in the Snowy Mountains for future connection to Snowy 2.0.

Primary purpose of the position:

To ensure that the project complies with all contract and legal requirements in respect of Project scope of responsibility for environmental management and sustainability. To ensure effective adoption and implementation of sustainability and environmental practices and legislative requirements for the project. To manage the effective implementation of the Project Environmental Management System to ensure the projects environmental and sustainability objectives are achieved..

Position Key Accountabilities

• Identifying and implementing where appropriate initiatives that identify the Project as a leader in Environmental practices.
• Set strategic direction and scope for the management of the environment discipline including the implementation of effective risk management compliance and performance strategies
• Provide up to date intelligence (as a result of legislative changes) analysis expert advice and recommendations to SMT and Key Stakeholders. Monitor changes to local and international environment policies.
• Co-ordinate system and process audits to ensure compliance with environmental standards requirements. Manage the risk assessment process.
• Drive the Projects long term Environmental capability and performance by contributing to the ongoing development enhancement and implementation of Environmental policies guidelines tools and Project procedures.

Our minimum requirements for this role are:

• Qualifications in Environmental Science and/or Engineering coupled with experience in an environmental compliance side within a construction environment.

Where applicable evidence of tertiary qualifications and proof of right to work will be required prior to successful appointment.
