Your role at St John of God Bunbury Hospital
We are currently seeking a Carpenter and Joiner to join our Maintenance team.
As part of the engineering team the Carpenter and Joiner carries out preventive and reactive maintenance of the sites assets with a focus on carpentry and handyman duties to meet operational requirements SJGHCs obligations with respect to Australian Standards relevant regulatory and licensing requirements in a best practice and cost-effective manner.
The role is offered on a Permanent Full-Time basis working 38 hours per week.
The Position:
Gyprock wall repairs wall patching and painting and wall fixture works
Door repairs / replacement /maintenance /inspections and fire door inspections
Basic lock smith tasks repair replace locks
Trolley and Wheelchair repairs and maintenance
Furniture repairs / flat pack assembly/ relocation
Pest control search and remove/ minor insect control
Light diffuser cleaning air filter replacements and air handling unit cleaning
General trade assistance and daily plant checks
Floor covering repairs/ replacement maintenance and window treatment repairs
Support on call duties
Coordinate larger jobs in responsible area with respective contractors to protect interests of SJOG
Process assigned jobs in Maintenance management system (MEX) issue spare parts log time and close jobs on completion and feedback
Promotes and contributes to effective communication facilitating teamwork and cooperation within the department and within the hospital.
Ensure compliance to all work programs regulations and Occupational Health and Safety standards
You hold a Trade Certificate in Carpentry or Cabinet Making with a minimum of two years experience in building maintenance across commercial facilities ideally within hospital or healthcare environments. You are self-motivated capable of working independently or under pressure and demonstrate strong organisational and time management skills to complete tasks safely and efficiently.
Your excellent interpersonal and customer service skills enable you to communicate effectively with staff patients and contractors ensuring prompt and professional responses to maintenance requests. Physically fit you are able to meet the demands of the role including walking long distances climbing stairs with tools and assisting with manual handling tasks.
Flexibility to work overtime participate in an on-call roster and respond to after-hours call-backs is essential.

We can offer you
Salary: $84561 per annum plus 12% superannuation
Permanent full-time position working 38 hours a week.
