Your New Role:

An exciting opportunity is available within Councils Infrastructure Delivery Team for a skilled and motivated Civil Construction / Bridge Carpenter.

Reporting to the Coordinator Works this hands-on leadership role plays a vital part in delivering and maintaining essential community infrastructure. You will lead a team of field staff in the construction renewal and maintenance of Council-owned bridges wharves flood mitigation assets and other concrete and civil structures that directly support the safety connectivity and resilience of our local community.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced trade professional looking to step into a local government role take pride in public infrastructure and make a visible and lasting contribution to the region.

Key Accountabilities include:

  • Providing technical advice within the Bridge Construction/Maintenance and or General Civil Construction disciplinary
  • Undertaking of carpentry duties Bridge Construction/Maintenance and or General Civil Construction disciplinary
  • Providing the skills necessary to maintain timber structures fabricate and install formwork fix steel and pour and finish concrete
  • Supervising and mentoring other team members.

About You:

As the successful candidate you will possess:

  • Certificate III in Civil Construction (minimum) with a Certificate IV in Civil Construction Supervision considered desirable; or demonstrated equivalent skills and experience in a similar role.
  • General Construction Induction Certificate
  • Current Drivers license C
  • Demonstrated experience of construction/maintenance techniques for civil construction works including reinforced concrete and timber structures
  • Experience in dewatering sites for construction or maintenance works will be highly regarded
  • Preparedness to and experience in working at heights.
  • Ability to read construction plans and estimate quantities
  • Physical ability to carry out required duties
