Job Summary

Our client located in Frederick MD is seeking a Business Development Executive to play a key role on the Business Development (BD) team and to deliver excellent sales results. This position offers work-from-home flexibility.

Position Summary

The Business Development Executive contacts prospective customers of the organizations accreditation business and makes successful sales of accreditation. The BD Executives primary focus is on prospecting customer leads building customer and consultant relationships achieving both individual and team sales goals and supporting executive management direction. This position may be involved in several aspects of selling diligently following the sales playbook and utilizing other systems provided by the organization to document and detail interactions with prospects customers and consultants in a timely and clear manner. The BD Executive maintains command of product knowledge participates in ongoing training and process improvement and proactively offers ideas/solutions for management consideration. This position will be involved in sales activities including communication documentation and relationship-building with consultants involved in this process and will act as an advisor regarding the accreditation process to potential customers. The BD Executive is responsible for the overall management of the Accreditation Sales Program and team including supervising the team members planning and executing strategies to maximize the value received from the sales program providing regular progress reports to management and suggesting improvements to the organizations sales process.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to annual team goals by meeting and exceeding volume and revenue targets for individual performance.
  • Participate in team-building behavior to create an effective and harmonious BD team environment.
  • Provide the marketing team with competitive intelligence.
  • Actively network and represent the organization and its services at professional events and meetings; represent the organizations brand professionally and serve as a brand ambassador.
  • Maintain an exceptional level of expertise on products services and equipment; anticipate prospect and customer questions and address concerns; contribute resources about FAQs for fellow BD team members.
  • Develop expert knowledge of the organizations leads-tracking and sales tracking systems provided by the organization; input and update all activities and contacts with prospects in approved leads tracking tools in a timely fashion; perform regular weekly inputs to reflect sales activities in communicating and managing prospects through the sales process.
  • Diligently adhere to related processes and protocols outlined in the sales playbook recommending implementation of improvements when needed; perform tasks specified in the playbook and other approved documentation to sell to leads approved by the executive team.
  • Meet metrics for performance in lead development and sales.
  • Initiate and maintain professional relationships with consultants and others influencing the decisions of prospects to create a positive and high-quality impression of the organizations brand.
  • Regularly update BD consultant list with full information including contacts full names addresses email addresses and phone numbers.
  • Maintain an understanding of consultant relationships for BD team members and collegially participate in avoiding disputes among BD team members by improving processes and documentation.
  • Meet with the BD team at least weekly to review calls role-play any areas of needed improvement offer encouragement and provide support in sales processes where needed; serve as primary point of contact for Business Development team members.
  • Monitor and take appropriate action related to the BD team daily sales process activities and metrics.
  • Support the BD team in its goal of closing new business; create and implement ongoing plans for the follow up list.
  • Develop expert knowledge of the organizations sales management systems platforms and related protocols.
  • Monitor sales process effectiveness and take lead in implementing approved process improvements.
  • Partner and communicate with the entire staff to acquire leads from additional sources including cross-selling efforts and other exploratory lead channels.
  • Work with the senior management team to assess the effectiveness of the sales program its budget the potential expansion of the program and/or adjustments necessary for the continued success of the program.
  • Perform tasks associated with the sales process to conduct telephone calls to leads; comply with organizational guidelines for number of calls made in defined time periods; obtain appropriate information review pressure points and determine if a lead is a prospect for ongoing communications.
  • Present targeted proposals with decision-makers and close new business including successfully completing the accreditation process and include on the weekly CMS report.
  • Attend four to six trade shows and conferences annually to represent the organization and obtain additional leads to feed the sales pipeline.
  • Serve as a brand ambassador and represent the organization in a high-quality manner at all times.

  • Comfortable working in software tools and accurately updating activities on a weekly basis
  • Demonstrated ability to persuade and sell effectively while maintaining high standards for integrity and representing products/services accurately
  • Demonstrated research skills including ability to research new topics and analyze and consolidate the information in a concise manner
  • Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service and constructively handle sensitive situations
  • Flexibility in dealing with changing priorities and demanding workload
  • Ability to travel and work some nights and weekends

Required Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelors degree in a related field or comparable experience
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a relevant industry or related field including business development marketing or sales
  • Minimum of three years of experience in an office setting and with direct customer contact
  • Experience working with a CRM (preferably NetSuite)
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office the internet and databases
