Position Title | DAY HEAD CUSTODIAN |
Primary Purpose | A working foreman on either the Lincoln or the Hanscom campus. offering supervisory and skilled work in cleaning housekeeping preventive maintenance care transporting of goods and documents to support the Lincoln Public Schools and for maintaining and controlling the facility stockrooms for the efficient budgeting and ordering of supplies of the school facilities. |
Contractual Relationship | Reports directly to the Facilities Director. |
Responsibilities | Performs routine custodial duties while monitoring the work schedules overtime and assignments of custodians on the day/ mid-day shift. Maintains cleanliness of building interior and exterior within assigned areas including the removal of snow and ice from all required exits parking areas stairs and walkways and salting of same as needed; removes trash and debris from buildings and grounds as needed. Makes regular contact with the building principal and school personnel concerning building upkeep cleanliness and safety. Supervises and evaluates custodians assigned to the day/ mid-day shift Trains assigns and supervises personnel and recommends and/or provides training as required. Performs minor and emergency repair tasks as required; advises the Facilities Director regarding each schools monthly maintenance and repair needs. Assists the Facilities Director in developing and maintaining inventory control; requisitions cleaning supplies tools etc. as needed. Adheres to energy-savings and asbestos abatement programs planned by the Facilities Director and Maintenance Custodial Resource Team Generates purchase order requisitions maintaining the stockroom ordering and receiving supplies and equipment Conducts the necessary procurement competitions for materials and supplies annually or more frequently if required. Seeks economy in all purchases. Manages all deliveries. Supports the transitions of the District schools during construction and renovation through special deliveries and assistance. Provides the District central distribution services receiving incoming mail and deliveries and dispatching outgoing mail and packages. Assists the Facilities Director in maintaining the proper level of cleanliness by overseeing the general conditions of the schools based on the SSI or other cleaning criteria and inspection system May be asked to respond to school emergency conditions. Qualifications | Communicate effectively. Experience as a building custodian in or outside the system. Must be able to work under general instructions withminimal supervision Any equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong working knowledge of cleaning materials equipment use and effective cleaning methods. Working knowledge of plant maintenance equipment safety and preventive maintenance functions. Supervisory ability and/or experience. Should be MCPPO-trained or capable of receiving the training. A working knowledge of email MS Office and Google software and the MUNIS purchasing system is preferred. Must possess a valid MA drivers license and a good driving record. Must be capable of driving a utility van and a pickup truck and trailer combination and of operating a pallet jack and other material handling equipment Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds to a height of 60 inches above the floor. |
