The Benefits Specialist is responsible for administering and managing employee benefits programs ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and providing exceptional support to employees regarding benefits inquiries. This role collaborates closely with Human Resources payroll and third-party vendors to deliver accurate and efficient benefits services.
Key Responsibilities:
Administer Employee Benefits: Manage and process enrollment changes and terminations for all benefits programs including health dental vision life disability and retirement plans.
Employee Support: Serve as the main point of contact for employees regarding benefits questions claims assistance and policy clarifications.
Compliance: Ensure company benefits programs comply with ERISA ACA HIPAA COBRA and other relevant federal/state laws.
Communication: Develop and distribute benefits communications including plan summaries open enrollment materials and wellness program information.
Vendor Management: Liaise with insurance carriers and third-party administrators to resolve issues and ensure smooth plan operation.
Reporting: Prepare and maintain accurate records generate regular benefits reports and assist with annual audits.
Problem Resolution: Investigate and resolve benefits-related issues in a timely and professional manner.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve benefits administration processes and enhance employee experience.
Education & Training: Conduct benefits orientations open enrollment meetings and educational sessions for employees.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Human Resources Business Administration or related field preferred.
2 years of experience in benefits administration or a similar HR role.
Working knowledge of benefits regulations (ERISA ACA HIPAA COBRA FMLA etc.).
Proficiency in HRIS and benefits administration software.
Excellent communication organizational and problem-solving skills.
High level of confidentiality and professionalism.
Hourly Pay Rate:
$25.00 - $35.00 per hour (commensurate with experience and education)
