3 months contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a SEND Review Officer to support the delivery of statutory responsibilities related to the review of Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
This temporary role is suited to an experienced professional with a background in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) looking to contribute to meaningful outcomes for children and young people.
You will be responsible for ensuring that reviews are conducted in line with national legislation and local policy ensuring that all processes are timely inclusive and child centred.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
Coordinate and undertake statutory annual reviews of Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) ensuring legal compliance and high-quality outcomes.
Liaise with families schools professionals and other stakeholders to gather assess and record accurate information.
Review and amend EHCPs where appropriate ensuring they continue to reflect the needs progress and support required for each child or young person.
Ensure timely follow-up of review actions in line with statutory timescales and internal procedures.
Provide professional advice on SEND processes particularly regarding reviews and the re-assessment of needs.
Maintain up-to-date accurate records and case notes in line with data protection and safeguarding requirements.
Contribute to team meetings service development initiatives and best practice sharing.
Work collaboratively with education health and care partners to ensure a holistic and coordinated approach to support planning.
Skills/Experience:
In-depth knowledge and experience of the SEND Code of Practice particularly relating to EHCP annual reviews.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and meet strict deadlines.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a person-centred approach to engaging with families and professionals.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Competence in using IT systems to manage case records and documentation accurately.
Experience working within a local authority or statutory SEND environment.
Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Children and Families Act 2014 and associated regulations.
Experience in conducting or supporting multi-agency meetings and assessments.
Additional Information:
Working Hours: 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday 09:0017:00).
