Job Summary
Responsible for reviewing and abstracting medical records to fulfill requests for health information. They ensure adherence to privacy regulations organizational policies and industry best practices while maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of patient information.Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent required and Bachelors Degree Health Information Management preferred
Experience
Experience in health information management release of information or medical record abstraction within a healthcare setting. 2-3 years required
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Solid knowledge of HIPAA regulations state privacy laws and other applicable privacy regulations.
- Familiarity with medical terminology health record documentation and release of information processes.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data abstraction and documentation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with requesters patients and internal stakeholders.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems health information exchange (HIE) platforms and related software applications.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team-based environment.
