Senior Engineer Connections Planning
Location: New South Wales
Were working with a leading NSW-based Network Service Provider (NSP) that is currently experiencing a record number of connection application enquiries. This surge in demand is driving a range of exciting new projects across the state making it a great time to join the team.
As a Senior Engineer Connections Planning youll be at the forefront of enabling the connection of embedded generation energy storage systems and large customer loads to the network. Your expertise will help shape the future of energy infrastructure in a dynamic and fast-evolving environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead technical assessments and due diligence for complex connections to the subtransmission network.
- Scope and execute engineering studies to evaluate impacts on network capability and system stability.
- Develop and propose solutions for remediation or network strengthening.
- Collaborate with internal teams to define operational requirements and performance standards.
- Liaise with customers and regulatory bodies to negotiate connection standards in line with the National Electricity Rules.
- Maintain project reporting and provide briefings to stakeholders.
- Champion diversity equity and inclusion in all aspects of work.
Qualifications & Experience:
Mandatory:
- Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) or equivalent eligible for Engineers Australia membership.
Desirable:
- Masters degree in power system engineering.
- Experience with scripting languages (Python VBA) for automating analysis.
Experience:
- Strong background in power systems analysis and modelling.
- Proficiency in tools such as PSCAD/EMTDC PSSE and PSS SINCAL.
- Experience in transmission or distribution network planning.
- Familiarity with the National Electricity Rules and AEMO guidelines.
Skills:
- Ability to balance technical and commercial outcomes.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Excellent time management and communication skills.
