The Department of Corrections Division of Health and Rehabilitative Services is recruiting for a Protective Services Specialist 2 located at the Anchorage Central Office in Anchorage Alaska.

You Will Be Doing:

This position under the supervision of the Reentry Program Manager will:

  • Be responsible for providing the delivery of a wide range of social services that meet the needs of individuals who will be or have been recently released from incarceration.

  • Employ their knowledge of resources and systems to contribute to new and on-going initiatives geared towards supporting prisoner reentry.

  • Work directly with individuals released from incarceration as well as with other stakeholders and DOC staff involved in supporting the reentry process.

  • Work alongside others in Reentry Education and Vocational Service (REVS) while also working with other DOC staff to support the reentry process.

The Protective Services Specialist 2 position will be an integral part of the team working to support the efforts of REVS and of the Division.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:

The REVS team operates in an office located in downtown Anchorage and in an environment that is collegial and collaborative that can become fast-paced and deadline driven. Most work will be conducted from an office setting during routine business hours however there are opportunities to meet with stakeholders and partners in the community and make visits to correctional facilities.

Please be aware this position requires the use of the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN)/Alaska Corrections Offender Management System (ACOMS). A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use APSIN/ACOMS. DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who has beenconvicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction or who may be a fugitive from justice. Additionally security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application for security clearance.
