Financial Reporting Analyst

Type: On Site 18 Month Contract Calgary AB

Our client a leading organization in Calgary is seeking a Financial Reporting Analyst to join their Finance team for an 18-month contract. Reporting to the Manager Financial Reporting this role will be responsible for the completion of monthly and quarterly financial accounting and reporting tasks while working closely with other teams across the organization.

The successful candidate will bring strong technical accounting knowledge sound judgment and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is detail-oriented organized and actively working towards their CPA designation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports and information.
  • Record monthly journal entries with appropriate backup and perform account reconciliations.
  • Record intercompany payroll benefit and accrual entries and perform intercompany reconciliations.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly financial statements.
  • Administer and perform monthly controls.
  • Support special projects and other accounting tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree in business or equivalent education.
  • Actively pursuing a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Minimum of 3 years of external financial reporting experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP.
  • Proficiency with Excel; SAP experience considered an asset.
  • Excellent organizational time management and problem-solving skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills and effective communication abilities (both written and oral).
  • Previous experience in regulated utility accounting (distribution or transmission) would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated reliability with a proven record of strong attendance and performance.
