Would you like to contribute to the quality and innovation of academic education in a leading technical university Then join the Education and Student Affairs (ESA) team of the Department of Applied Physics and Science Education (APSE) at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) as our new Policy Officer Education.

Job Description

As Policy Officer Education you will be part of the ESA team of APSE which is responsible for all educational support within the departments Bachelor and Masters programs. This includes curriculum development study scheduling quality assurance educational policy support for educational innovation and overall educational organization.

You will focus on the Bachelors program Applied Physics the Masters program Applied Physics and the Masters program Science and Technology of Nuclear this role you will play a key part in shaping and ensuring the quality of education in these programs. You will help translate TU/es educational vision and departmental strategy into concrete policy and provide direct support to the program director. Your primary focus will be on overseeing and coordinating educational processes with a particular emphasis on curriculum development and innovation.

As Policy Officer Education you are the central link in the educational landscapethe spider in the web. You will work closely with the program director the manager ESA APSE the central policy advisor chain the educational advisor the quality assurance officer and the examination- and program committees involved in the above-mentioned programs. Effective communication and collaborationboth internally and externallyare vital to your role. You will take on various roles including advisor expert project leader and analyst and are able to translate complex challenges into concrete executable or pragmatic solutions.

Some specific examples of your core activities are:

  • Updating the Program and Examination Regulations (PER) annually for the relevant programs including defining program structures and student rights and responsibilities;
  • Preparing annual educational evaluation reports in collaboration with the Bachelor College and Graduate School deans;
  • Managing the accreditation processes of existing and new programs in line with NVAO standards;
  • Leading educational innovation projects such as the redesign of the Masters programs ensuring project success from initiation to implementation involving stakeholders from different levels in the organization;
  • Translating central regulations related to assessment and quality assurance into departmental policy;
  • Developing regulations and policy on bachelor/master retention.

Job Requirements

We are looking for candidates who meet the following requirements:

  • A proactive enthusiastic creative and reflective professional who can switch easily between individual and team-based work;
  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills with the ability to oversee complex projects and manage multiple components;
  • The ability to deal with different interests in the organization in a flexible and appropriate manner and to collaborate with people both on operational and strategic level;
  • Skilled at navigating and balancing diverse stakeholder interests in a flexible and diplomatic manner;
  • A university degree and/or relevant experience in accreditation educational policy or project management with affinity for STEM education;
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in both Dutch and English (C1 level);
  • Independent results-driven and adept at building connections and fostering collaboration.
