Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse will provide skilled nursing care case management and hospice care to individuals facing advancing age frailty and serious illness. Responsibilities include patient assessments medication administration treatment planning and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team. The RN will primarily care for patients with CHF acute MIs post-device care (pacemakers) and arrhythmias on a 26-bed MedSurg unit.
Location:Rochester New York United States
Responsibilities:
- Provide skilled nursing care to patients.
- Perform patient assessments and monitor vital signs.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Develop and implement patient care plans.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team.
- Interpret and manage dysrhythmias.
- Utilize Rapid Response/Code teams when necessary.
- Perform peripheral line care and management.
- Administer respiratory support including nasal cannula oxygen face masks and portable oxygen tanks.
- Implement isolation precautions.
- Float to other units as required.
- Chart patient information using EPIC.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Active Registered Nurse license in New York State.
- BLS certification.
- Minimum 1 year of experience.
- Proficiency in cardiac monitoring and emergency response.
- Competency in IV therapy and phlebotomy.
- Knowledge of respiratory care techniques.
- Understanding of isolation precautions.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience with EPIC charting.
Special Considerations:
- Must be able to handle a patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:7.
- Floating to other units is required.
- Tertiary Care Hospital setting.
Scheduling:
- November start date.
- MedSurg unit.
