Job Summary:
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) will play a crucial role in the strategic planning and day-to-day management of the foundry operations. The AGM will assist the General Manager in overseeing all aspects of the plant including production quality assurance financial performance and compliance with health safety and environmental regulations. This role is key to driving continuous improvement optimizing efficiency and ensuring the foundry meets its production targets and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Operational Management:
  • Oversee and manage daily foundry operations including melting molding casting and finishing processes to ensure efficient production and on-time delivery.
  • Monitor production schedules and allocate resources (personnel raw materials equipment) to meet production targets.
  • Implement and maintain best practices in all foundry processes to optimize efficiency reduce waste and enhance productivity.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues production bottlenecks and equipment malfunctions.
  • Strategic Leadership:
  • Assist in developing and implementing strategic plans to achieve the foundrys long-term goals and objectives.
  • Provide direction and leadership to various departments including production maintenance quality control and administration.
  • Identify and lead initiatives for operational improvement cost reduction and profitability enhancement.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure all products meet or exceed customer expectations and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to develop implement and monitor quality control systems and procedures.
  • Analyze data to identify trends address quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Health Safety and Environmental Compliance:
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture within the foundry ensuring strict adherence to all health and safety regulations.
  • Oversee the implementation of safety programs conduct regular audits and address any safety concerns promptly.
  • Ensure the foundry complies with all environmental regulations including waste management emissions control and hazardous materials handling.
  • Team Management and Development:
  • Lead mentor and develop a team of managers supervisors and foundry personnel.
  • Oversee recruitment training and performance evaluations to ensure the team has the necessary skills and knowledge.
  • Foster a culture of accountability teamwork and continuous improvement.
  • Financial Management:
  • Assist in managing the foundrys budget including cost control resource allocation and financial forecasting.
  • Analyze financial reports and operational data to identify trends variances and areas for improvement.
  • Drive cost-saving initiatives and process improvements without compromising product quality.
  • Customer and Stakeholder Relations:
  • Maintain strong relationships with key customers ensuring their needs are met and a high level of satisfaction is achieved.
  • Work closely with sales and customer service teams to address inquiries and resolve issues.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Education: Bachelors degree in Metallurgy Mechanical Engineering Materials Science or a related field. A Masters degree or professional certifications in management (e.g. PMP Lean Six Sigma) are a plus.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in foundry operations with a significant portion in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing a large team and complex production processes.
  • Experience in the copper aluminum or other non-ferrous metals industry may be preferred.
  • Technical Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of foundry processes including sand casting investment casting die casting melting and finishing techniques.
  • Strong understanding of metallurgical principles quality control systems and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing Six Sigma and other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and other relevant software.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Exceptional leadership communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly developed problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong business acumen and financial management skills.
