The BTI organization is looking for an Applied Mathematician Manager (Level K) to join our team in either North Charleston SC or Huntsville AL.
The Applied Mathematics organization comprises the most concentrated group of mathematicians in Boeing. The team members lead and conduct research & development and provide consulting for business units on a wide variety of mathematical technologies. We are currently seeking an Applied Mathematics Manager for Computational Math and Statistics to lead a geographically diverse team.
This position will serve on the Applied Mathematics Technology Team as the leader in Computational Math and Statistics and will serve as the Applied Math site leader for Charleston and Huntsville locations. This position will lead a technical consulting and research organization in the areas of numerical methods quantum algorithms industrial statistics and multi-physics modeling.
The position will guide the team to develop solutions across Boeing locations and will support the Applied Mathematics leadership team in the development and execution of organizational strategy. This position will support the guidance and development of a world class team of applied mathematicians work with internal and external customers in commercial and defense and contribute to technology roadmaps based on consulting work.
Position Responsibilities:
Lead a team of diverse applied mathematicians with advanced degrees in to deliver computational mathematics and statistics capability across the enterprise and externally
Champion the Boeing Values & Behaviors
Evaluate business requirements against cost schedule and technical constraints
Collaborate with other Applied Mathematics managers and technical leaders in developing and refining the strategy and vision for the Applied Mathematics organization
Collaborate cross-functionally and internationally with technical leaders managers program managers executives and external customersto establish and execute on research and consulting plans
Coach and support technical leadership and career growth for the organization
Manage expectations performance and compensation of direct reports
Work with fellow Applied Mathematics managers to support hiring activities staff forecasting and staffing to plan
Stay informed on advances in computational math and statistics and more broadly applied math automation and AI
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Technical degree in mathematics statistics or a closely related science or engineering field of study
Career experience in business consulting and research in applied mathematics
Experience leading and managing technical teams and projects
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Advanced technical degree in mathematics statistics or a closely related science or engineering field of study
Excellent communication skills the ability to adapt to changing environments and work statements.
Experience establishing cross-functional collaborations and maintaining relationships
Experience working on multidisciplinary teams and building consensus with internal and external stakeholders
Experience managing several simultaneous projects effectively and across various geographical locations
Strong knowledge of aerospace needs in applied mathematics
