Shipping/Receiving Driver

JOB SUMMARY
The Shipping/Receiving Driver is responsible for the timely delivery of products as well as assisting with all daily shipping and receiving activities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Safely operate company vehicles to deliver products to various locations within a designated area.
- Ensure timely delivery of shipments while adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Load and unload products from the vehicle ensuring proper handling to prevent damage.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries addressing any questions or concerns from customers professionally.
- Build positive relationships with clients through effective communication and reliability.
- Verifies products prior to packaging and follows packaging instructions.
- Prepares items for shipment including completing shipping notices bills of lading and any other required documents.
- Determines shipping priorities work assignments and shipping methods to meet shipping schedules utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures routes and rates.
- Ensures accuracy completeness and condition of outgoing shipments.
- Packages product according to work instructions.
- Must be able to create advanced shipping notifications for applicable clients.
- Receive incoming shipments verifying the quantity and quality of products against purchase orders or packing lists.
- Inspect received goods for damage or discrepancies and report any issues to management promptly.
- Organize received items in the warehouse according to established procedures.
- Follow all safety protocols while driving and handling materials
- Assist production and assist other management personnel as needed.
SKILLS and ABILITIES
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications related to logistics is a plus.
- Valid California drivers license with a clean driving record.
- Previous experience in shipping/receiving logistics or a related field preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift heavy packages (up to 40 lbs) safely.
- Ability to go up and down stairs
- Forklift certification is a plus
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- This position may require working outdoors in various weather conditions during deliveries.
