About your role:

We are seeking enthusiastic individuals to join as Food Production Kitchen Assistant to work in our production kitchen at St Vincents Private Hospital to maintain high levels of professional standards in servicing patients across St Vincents Darlinghurst Campus.

St Vincents Private Hospital production kitchen is a cook fresh facility with a high quality food safety accredited meal service producing more than 60000 meals per month. This is a large team of approx. 40 staff in this busy kitchen. You will be directly managed by the kitchen supervisor them reporting to the Head chef.

The role involves working in the dessert section cold larder vegetable prep ingredients room or diet aide section. Duties include the preparation of sandwiches & sandwich fillings slicing of meats preparation of vegetables herbs salads and fruits for the campus. Preparation & plating of desserts and of hot meals during the tray line service. Weighing of ingredients for recipes. Some cooking of stocks and sauces under supervision.

Working hours would be between 5am and 6.30pm Monday to Sunday.

About you

  • Good communication skills
  • Availability to work rotating shifts
  • Ability to take directions
  • Ability to read recipes and follow written instructions
  • A high degree of personal hygiene and safe food practices.
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Basic knife skills
  • Knowledge of HACCP requirements.
  • Ability to follow Safe Work Practices and WHS procedures.
  • Previous food preparation background and experience.
  • Previous experience working with the dietary requirements would be of advantage
