High School Academic Support Tutor
POSITION SUMMARY:
Everett Public Schools is seeking tutors to provide before- or after-school academic support in Math and/or ELA for high school students with a primary focus on unaccompanied youth identified under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act. Tutors will work with students to reinforce classroom learning address individual academic needs and build confidence and skills.
WORKING TIMES:
- 2:45 - 4:00 2 days/week 30 weeks total.
REMUNERATION:
- $40/hour max stipend not to exceed $3000
Number of Openings:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide targeted ELA and/or Math tutoring to high school students and unaccompanied youth identified under the McKinney-Vento Act.
- Use evidence-based tutoring strategies that build core skills critical thinking and academic confidence
- Align session goals with students current coursework and district standards and reinforce classroom learning
- Incorporate SEL Practices that promote self-confidence teamwork and persistence
- Apply inclusive practices to support students with disabilities English language learners and implement strategies to support language development
- Leverage district-provided materials/technology to deliver engaging scaffolded supports
- Track attendance each session report to Manager of Extended Learning conduct outreach to students with inconsistent attendance
- Support outreach/recruitment to ensure eligible students can access tutoring
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors Degree in Education and/or Liberal Arts or equivalent expertise in ELA and/or Math
- Demonstrated experience tutoring or teaching high schools students
- Strong communication organization and cultural responsiveness skills commitment to serving homeless youth
- Current EPS employee in good standing
- Ability to implement inclusive and SEI-informed strategies
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters Degree in Education
- Dual Licensure and/or experience in Special Education and/or ESL
- Previous experience in Extended Learning programs (after-school summer learning Acceleration Academies coaching tutoring etc.)
- Foreign Language Proficiency
