General Summary
The Director of Finance serves as the primary financial officer for Urology Centers of Alabama (UCA). Major responsibilities include developing and maintaining accurate and compliant corporate financials; implementing and maintaining annual operating and capital budgets; financial analysis of new programs acquisitions and business development; revenue management outside of and in coordination with the RCM unit; preparation of all financial statements in accordance with financial management and techniques appropriate to the health care industry; decision support and cost accounting; oversight of disbursements and receivables processes; maintenance of banking/lending/leasing relationships. The Director of Finance reports directly to the CEO.
Essential Functions
- In collaboration with the CEO the Director of Finance will develop and plan company financial objectives including short- and long-range programs in budgeting profit analysis ROI project analysis and accounting systems.
- Implement and supervise financial practice management accounting and payroll processes across the organization.
- Must actively maintain related licenses without lapses. Any lapse or encumbrance against license must immediately be reported to UCA Leadership.
- Working with the CEO Director of Finance will evaluate accounting system and develop a long-term accounting strategy.
- Oversee and direct preparation and issuance of the organizations annual/quarterly tax and other financial regulatory reports. Prepare and review financial statements in conjunction with practices accounting firm RVU Analysis and Physician Compensation Calculation for monthly Board of Directors.
- Direct financial accounting functions to ensure timely and accurate reporting of corporate financial information for informed decision making.
- Oversee revenue cycle management and develop strategies to increase cash flow. Develop and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard assets.
- Plan assign and review work of staff to ensure that group objectives are met. Hire train develop and manage staff to ensure that a qualified staff exists to meet department objectives.
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures and ensure compliance.
- Oversee Disbursements (payroll and accounts payable) processing.
- Manage the development of financial pro-formas and the due diligence for new services development capital equipment purchase and expansion plans.
- Oversee annual audits on time and with minimal or no adjustments.
- Maintain excellent relationships with outside lending institutions pay sources and the financial community.
- Price and analyze loans and purchasing options for capital expenditures.
- Lead or facilitate strategies and steps for cost containment within the organization.
- Conduct regular insurance contract performance evaluations analysis negotiate and/or renegotiate all insurance contracts.
- Develop strategies to increase cash flow including improvements in revenue cycle management all with a target of increasing days cash on hand.
- Lead and facilitate organizational planning for changing reimbursement methodologies.
- Ensures development and mentoring of staff within the department.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein as may be assigned delegated or necessary.
- Participate in professional associations and community service activities.

- This position will maintain and control the general ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization including ensuring complete and accurate general ledger journals and account reconciliations and be responsible for all daily cash management functions via hands-on involvement in transactional duties and oversight of support staff assigned to these functions.
- Must show the ability to build relationships with leaders and team members to drive better business performance.
- Must effectively manage small team of accounting and payroll professionals to achieve the desired goals.
- Must display expert Excel skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Must display expert skills in financial planning and analysis budgeting and financial forecasting.
- Must show the ability to analyze and synthesize large amounts of data to identify and present meaningful observations and recommendations.
- Must demonstrate excellent organizational and written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate within a cross-functional team environment.
- Must show the ability to take initiative exercising sound judgment in problem-solving and decision making.
- Must display skill in developing people and in building teams.
- Must be competent to track financial performance and prepare monthly financial statements (income statement balance sheet and statement of cash flows with variance reporting) and present to the Board and executive team.
- Must have experience initiating negotiating and managing appropriate vendor relationships (e.g. banking lending/financing real estate development and leasing tax/audit/accounting support insurance and other appropriate purchased services.)
- Must have experience negotiating payor and other vendor contracts.
- Must be self-directed with the ability to effectively manage competing priorities and thrive under pressure.
- Must have experience with market-leading financial budget accounting and data mining and analytics software; and with financial system conversions.
- Responsible for oversight approval and authorization of all payroll processes.
- Bachelors degree required; Accounting or Finance preferred; Masters degree preferred CPA required.
- Must have a minimum of seven years of experience in accounting and/or planning and forecasting required.
- Must be a proven financial leader with a minimum of three years financial management in healthcare.
- Physician practice experience is preferred in a group with more than $40M in annual revenue.
- Must have extensive knowledge of the accounting and regulatory environments that affect Accounting Tax and Finance
- Appropriate incorporation/utilization of AI for the purposes of improving performance efficiency timeliness and cost effectiveness in all areas of responsibility will be encouraged; therefore experience doing so is a plus.
- Responsible for sales/use tax compliance as well as other audit and compliance functions.
- Responsible for managing relationship with and duties to MSO for rebates/ employee benefits and other MSO initiatives benefiting the organization.
- Responsible for bonus calculations as outlined in various employment contracts.
- Must demonstrate the ability to stay up to date with continuing education required for position.
Education Licensure Certification
- Bachelors degree in accounting or finance.
- CPA required.
- MBA Graduate Degree preferred.
