Responsible for the reliable data collection of clinical quality data in accordance to the organizational performance improvement goals and regulatory standards. Major work responsibilities may include the abstraction of data from the EMR and various other software sources used by the Health System trend observation data visualization and facilitation and support of quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:

Essential Job Functions

Works with management and performance improvement personnel to identify & evaluate additional opportunities through the use of business intelligence.

Works with Data Management Analysts Improve abstraction data gathering and reporting methodologies providing the most streamline process of compiling data from several different sources.

Performs data gathering and analysis of data and collaborates and communicates effectively on identifying opportunities and risks with program coordinators project teams/leads and other clinical staff as needed.

  • If assigned to Bariatrics Program successfully completes Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) and National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP) training.

Collaborates and communicates effectively with other members of the quality team to improve overall quality of care for health system patients.

Develops monthly reports containing aggregate results of each domain and collaborates with appropriate disciplines on improving clinical outcomes.

Audits various medical records and reports thru committee structures.

Provides support for quality improvement and safety indicators as identified through value based purchasing or other quality measures.

Develops/builds reports using Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and International Classification of Disease (ICD) 10 codes as needed.

Analyzes researches and reports on quality improvement activities in order to meet established guidelines of the organizations quality improvement plan.

Completes quality audits on assessments screens and other work products to improve outcomes and processes and to ensure adherence to policy and produce and applicable state and federal regulations.

Organizes and performs ad hoc quality-focused studies on assessments screening and other work products to identify trends develop recommendations and guide quality improvement activities and customer consultation.

Monitors clinical decision making and performance to ensure quality outcomes Provides appropriate feedback to management when concerns arrive.

Responsible for facilitating or supporting quality improvement or safety initiatives as the content expert.

Conducts regular quality training sessions with customers as needed.

Provides peer mentoring and feedback for onboarding as needed.

Job Requirements

Education

  • Successful completion of annual mandatory education requirements.
  • Bachelors degree in Nursing (BSN) required.

Experience

  • Computer experience utilizing standard work applications (Microsoft Word Excel PowerPoint) required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of healthcare experience and/or quality analysis and reporting required.


License/Certifications

  • Current valid Registered Nurse (RN) license valid compact multistate license or a temporary permit while awaiting licensure required.
  • Certified Professional Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) certification preferred.


Skills

  • Knowledge of word processing spreadsheet presentation and relevant software.
  • Ability to utilize analytical thinking and identify scrutinize improve and streamline work processes.
  • Ability to plan schedule organize communicate and coordinate activities processes and people.
  • Skill in prioritizing organizing and performing assigned work.
