Job Summary

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Basic computer and telephone skills are required.
  • Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association with card in-hand before start date and current through sixty days of hire is required.
  • Active Medical Assistant registration or certification such as:
    • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) and proof of current membership from American Medical Technologists (AMT).
  • OR
    • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) and proof of current membership from American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
  • OR
    • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) and proof of current membership from American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
  • OR
    • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) and proof of current membership form National Certified Competency Testing (NCCT).
  • 1 or more years of experience as a full-time Medical Assistant working in an outpatient setting is desired.

Pay Range:$39487 - $50951 annually. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications. This position is Non-Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.

Summary

This position is responsible for front desk operations checking in patients triaging acute care visits assisting providers with medical procedures medical supply inventory and collecting lab specimens. New graduates are encouraged to apply!

Essential Functions

The duties and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

Front Office Duties

  • Responsible for front office first impressions and building relationships with the patients.

  • Greet and log in patients arriving at the clinic.

  • Perform general office duties at the front desk such as answering telephones registering and scheduling appointments for patients.

  • Perform excellent customer service skills checking patients in and out using the EMR system and collecting and receiving payments for services.

  • Call patients confirming appointments and checking eligibility.

  • Record all information into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system patient records.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Back Office Duties

  • Interview measure vital signs and enter information into the EMR for patients prior to seeing medical provider.

  • Record patients medical history vital statistics and information such as test results in EMR system.

  • Obtain lab specimens enter values into the EMR and notify providers when results are received.

  • Track abnormal labs and assist providers in contacting patients requiring follow-up care.

  • Record and track medical supplies ordering them if needed.

  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations keeping the rooms neat and clean.

  • Stock medical provider treatment rooms with products and supplies at least twice daily.

  • Prepare and administer medications as directed by a provider.

  • Give immunizations as outlined by clinic protocols.

  • Assist providers with medication refills.

  • Explain treatment procedures medications and providers instructions to patients.

  • Help providers with patients handing them instruments and materials for performing tasks.

  • Set up medical laboratory equipment.

  • Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.

  • Assist as a chaperone in assorted procedures as indicated.

  • Place phone calls to patients with test results referrals and future appointments.

  • Assist providers with prior authorizations and referrals.

  • Triage walk-in requests for appointments.

  • Assist providers with medical emergencies when they arise in clinic.

  • Work together with a provider in a care-team model that is responsible for health care for a panel of patients.

  • Other duties as assigned.
