A DAY IN THE LIFE

Enthalpy Analytical is part of the larger organization Montrose Environmental Group is comprised of over 9 laboratories servicing air water soil and toxicology testing. Regulations drive the need for our services but our unique capabilities allow us to add value to clients beyond environmental compliance.

The Operations Managerwill manage the day-to-day operations of the lab and is responsible for maintaining and optimizing all departments production meeting all lab quality standards and ensuring all groups stay on time for client doing this the Operations Manageris monitoring current production systems and processes and developing/implementing strategies for improvement in those areas. This position reports to the Laboratory Director. As a key member of the laboratory team this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:
  • Overseeing maintenance and performance of the facilitys infrastructure
  • Overseeing the laboratorys waste management program in conjunction with the Safety Specialist
  • Overhead projects designed to improve efficiency and/or growth of all aspects of the laboratorys operation
  • Coordinate with IT and LIMS teams to find solutions and support laboratory staff
  • Supports Customer Service by advising project managers regarding suggested test methods and regulations.
  • Develops and grows analytical and preparatory staff
  • Troubleshooting all instruments lab-wide and problem solving
  • Research new technologies and alternative methods of efficiency
  • Fostering a collaborative environment and teamwork across all levels of the organization
  • Communicate with clients questions or concerns
  • Overhead projects designed to improve efficiency and/or accuracy of analyses
  • Comply with Enthalpys Quality Assurance Program and other policies
  • Monitor costs and usage of lab consumables to make informed decisions for purchasing
  • Ensure staff comply with Enthalpys Health and Safety Plan
  • Other duties as assigned by the Laboratory Director

YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS

To perform this job successfully individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required.

  • Bachelors Degree in a physical science or equivalent
  • Minimum of 4 years laboratory experience
  • Must have familiarity with environmental sample analysis chromatography and mass spectrometry
  • Must have the ability to manage people effectively
  • Effectiveness-Positive outcomes & results of communication skills
  • Conflict resolution skills: Removes/Breakdown organizational communication barriers
  • Assertion Skills-Problem diagnosis assess corrective action
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain composure during stressful times
  • Complete documentation and attention to detail
