Job Summary

The Director of Facilities is responsible for the care and maintenance of all buildings and grounds associated with St. Joseph Fullerton Church & School property including St. Joseph Cemetery. The Director of Facilities is responsible for the supervision and management of the members of the facilities team. This management position requires the necessary managerial skills that will ensure the maintenance cleanliness and repair of parish/school facilities and grounds through the diligent work of the entire facilities team. The Director of Facilities will report weekly to the addition to working with the pastor the Director of Facilities will need skills necessary to work with various vendors construction/repair companies and parish committees and volunteers for the total maintenance of the buildings and grounds. The Director of Facilities will meet regularly with the school principal of St. Joseph School to assist in the determination of needs for maintenance repairs capital improvements or extraordinary repairs and offer guidance. The Director of Facilities will also assist the school principal in the selection of contractors to complete capital projects and repairs that arise throughout the year.

Essential Functions

  • Performs all duties warranted under the Preventive Maintenance Program of the Archdiocese of Baltimore for all buildings and grounds of St. Joseph Fullerton Church & School property including St. Joseph Cemetery.
  • Provides timely responses to maintenance requests and performs hands-on maintenance including troubleshooting repairs preventive maintenance and day-to-day tasks as assigned.
  • Ensures the successful execution of the following: Contract Management; Property Management; Facilities Management.
  • Responsible for management administration and stewardship of all temporal goods and services and ensures the provision of support to all buildings and grounds associated with St. Joseph Fullerton Church and School including St. Joseph Cemetery.
  • Provides long term maintenance and preventive maintenance plans for all buildings and grounds of the St. Joseph Fullerton Church & School property including St. Joseph Cemetery. This will also include budget estimates for repairs and forecasting the financial requirements of long-term maintenance. When possible such maintenance will be performed in-house.
  • Manages the bidding and procuring of contracts for work outside the scope of the abilities of the facilities team of St. Joseph Fullerton Church School and Cemetery.
  • Schedules coordinates monitors and evaluates the work of all approved contractors.
  • Orders and maintains inventory of all maintenance supplies.
  • Maintains files with all blueprints contracts equipment warranties and service manuals and responds in a timely manner to emails.
  • Performs regular system checks to include: All boilers HVAC elevator fire systems circulators electric water supply sewage roofs etc.
  • Ensures employees of St. Joseph Fullerton Church & School are in compliance with OSHA requirements and use of PPE and manages the creation and implementation of safety procedures.
  • Performs snow removal and/or storm debris removal procedures as required in a timely manner- must be able to operate a snow plow and tractor.
  • Supervises the following staff of St. Joseph Fullerton Church School and Cemetery: Maintenance janitorial cleaning personnel and volunteers.
  • Active member of the pastors senior staff and other committees as required. Must be able to respond to maintenance needs 24 hours a day when warranted i.e. snow removal emergency maintenance repairs or as deemed necessary by the pastor.

Position Qualifications

  • Practicing and devoted Catholic who is fully able to participate in the sacramental life of the Church
  • Bachelors degree in a related field and at least 5 years experience in the management and oversight of facilities operations including maintenance work
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in supervising paid staff volunteers and working with outside contractors/vendors
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite of Products including Word and Excel for job-related use required.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and laws.
  • Knowledge of and ability to support the mission of the Catholic Church and Catholic education particularly as the Mission relates to effective performance of all essential functions listed above.

NOTE: This position will require work schedule flexibility and on-call availability to respond to emergency needs when they arise.

Pay Range: $65000 - 105000
