Job Summary

Purpose of the Role

The Deputy DPO will:

  • Support the DPO in implementing CHIs data protection strategy governance framework and compliance programme.
  • Act as deputy in the DPOs absence ensuring continuity of statutory functions.
  • Provide expert advice guidance and assurance to CHI management staff and project teams on data protection obligations.
  • Supervise day-to-day operations of the Data Protection Office including DSARs DPIAs breach management RoPA agreements and training.
  • Contribute to the embedding of a culture of accountability and data protection by design across CHI.

Essential:

  • Primary degree (Level 8) in Irish/EU Law Information Management IT or a relevant discipline
  • At least 2 years experience in data protection information governance legal or compliance roles at a senior level..
  • Data Protection certification (e.g. Certificate from the IPA CIPP/E CIPM Advanced Diploma in Data Protection Law etc.).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of GDPR the Data Protection Act 2018 and relevant Irish health-sector law.
  • Experience in managing or coordinating DSARs DPIAs breaches and/or records of processing.
  • Proven ability to work with senior stakeholders and communicate complex legal/technical matters clearly.
  • Strong organisational skills with experience supervising or mentoring staff.
  • Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team and ability to motivate a team and foster a positive data protection culture within a team and the organisation.
