We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer to join a stable and well-established leader in the plastic injection molding this role you will be responsible for developing innovative and manufacturable designs for molded components ensuring that product performance quality and tooling feasibility are consistently achieved. The ideal candidate will have strong CAD proficiency hands-on experience with injection molding processes and a proven ability to collaborate across engineering and production teams to drive design excellence and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop plastic injection molded components and assemblies using SolidWorks Siemens NX or AutoCAD Mechanical.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (tooling manufacturing quality and sales) to ensure designs meet performance cost and manufacturability requirements.
- Create and maintain detailed engineering drawings 3D models and specifications for tooling and production.
- Conduct design reviews tolerance analysis and DFM (Design for Manufacturability) assessments using tools such as Autodesk Moldflow Moldex3D or SolidWorks Simulation.
- Support mold design and tooling development including coordination with external vendors.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement design changes for product improvements and defect reduction.
- Evaluate materials and recommend suitable thermoplastics based on mechanical thermal and aesthetic requirements.
- Participate in prototype development testing and validation of new products.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Plastics Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in design engineering within the plastic injection molding industry.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
- Strong understanding of mold design thermoplastic materials and injection molding processes.
- Familiarity with GD&T tolerance stack-up analysis and DFM principles.
- Experience with simulation tools (e.g. Moldflow) is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities across technical and non-technical teams.
