About the Team

AEMOs Market Operability team is seeking a Senior Analyst to deliver energy modelling and analysis for the east coast gas and electricity this role youll contribute to the Gas Statement of Opportunities (GSOO) and operability forecasts for the Integrated System Plan helping shape the future of the National Electricity Market.

About the role

As Senior Analyst youll shape critical energy forecasts by developing models refining data inputs and communicating insights to a range of stakeholders. Leveraging advanced modelling techniques for gas and electricity markets youll help optimise system reliability and support the evolution of the Integrated System Plan.

What you will be doing

  • Support and lead the development of publication content.
  • Undertake gas and electricity market modelling and analysis.
  • Interpret and justify simulation outcomes draw conclusions and provide robust recommendations
  • Engage effectively with internal stakeholders to ensure work is discussed and coordinated across teams.
  • Communicating analytical insights to a broad audience including senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Provide support to team members and other teams across AEMO discuss critique and QA modelling work and analysis.

What you will bring to the role

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in mathematics economics data science physics or engineering.
  • Extensive experience in energy market simulation software (preferably PLEXOS) and forecasting tools and processes.
  • Experience working on small analytical teams to deliver quality outcomes on time.
  • Experience in economic assessment techniques and power system reliability assessments.
  • Knowledge or experience in the regulatory and investment framework for energy markets.
  • Experience writing technical reports and other documents that convey modelling outcomes and complex analysis in simple terms.
