Job Summary

Overview

The role of the Office of Child Support Regional Manager includes administrative and supervisory work involving the operations of regional offices. Duties include the administration of programs to establish modify and enforce child support payments for a variety of customers. Duties may also include coverage of more than one office mentoring another regional manager or having the additional responsibility for a statewide OCS program or function. Supervision is exercised over technical and clerical staff. The Office of Child Support is federally mandated to provide holistic family-centered trauma-informed services. Thus in this role impartiality equity empathy and procedural justice are key. Furthermore Child support law is challenging and ever-changing. It requires adaptability openness and flexibility.

AHS BACKGROUND CHECKS: Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the accordance with AHS Policy 4.02 Hiring Standards Vermont and/or national criminal record checks as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks as appropriate to the position under recruitment will be conducted on candidates with the exception of those who are current classified state employees seeking transfer promotion or demotion into an AHS classified position or are persons exercising re-employment (RIF) rights.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed primarily in a standard office setting but with the need for frequent courtroom appearances private means of transportation must be available for required travel. Adversarial situations may be encountered in dealing with custodial and non-custodial parents.

Minimum Qualifications

Masters degree in human services or public administration AND two (2) years at a professional level in the broad field of human services INCLUDING a minimum of one (1) year in a child support program or in an administrative or supervisory capacity.

OR

Bachelors degree or higher AND four (4) years at a professional level in the broad field of human services INCLUDING a minimum of one (1) year in a child support program or in an administrative or supervisory capacity.

OR
Six (6) years at a professional level in the broad field of human services INCLUDING a minimum of one (1) year in a child support program or in an administrative or supervisory capacity.
