The Associate Director of Business Intelligence (BI) will lead the BI strategy and operations for India and Indonesia reporting directly to the APAC BI Director. This role is accountable for driving data-driven decision making by building scalable BI solutions strengthening regional BI capabilities and enabling both internal stakeholders and external clients with actionable insights.
The leader will oversee strategy execution people development and client engagement ensuring that BI solutions are future-ready and aligned with global standards while tailored to local market needs.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Define and execute the BI vision and roadmap for India & Indonesia aligned with APAC and global BI strategies.
Champion the adoption of self-service BI AI-driven insights and automation ensuring scalability and efficiency across markets.
Stay ahead of emerging BI trends (GenAI cloud analytics data governance predictive modeling) and assess their relevance for business impact.
Operational & Technical Excellence
Lead the design development and delivery of BI solutions reports dashboards and analytics products using platforms such as Power BI Tableau Qlik SAP-BI and cloud-based data warehouses.
Ensure solutions meet data quality governance security and compliance standards.
Oversee performance metrics KPIs and business metadata frameworks to enable consistency and comparability across markets.
Partner with global technology teams to integrate emerging tools and optimize the data infrastructure.
Business & Client Partnership
Collaborate with country leadership and cross-functional stakeholders (Commercial Finance Operations HR) to define analytics priorities pain points and opportunities.
Translate business needs into BI solutions that directly drive growth efficiency and client impact.
Represent BI in client-facing discussions showcasing how analytics capabilities deliver business value in the FMCG and retail sectors.
Build monetizable BI products and services that address evolving client needs.
Team Leadership & Development
Build lead and mentor high-performing BI teams across India and Indonesia.
Develop a talent pipeline coaching team members on advanced analytics visualization and storytelling skills.
Foster a culture of innovation agility and continuous learning encouraging the team to leverage AI and automation.
Qualifications :
12 years of progressive BI/Analytics experience with at least 5 years in leadership roles.
Strong expertise with at least one enterprise BI platform (Power BI Tableau Qlik); exposure to cloud BI solutions (Azure AWS GCP) highly desirable.
Proven experience in the FMCG retail or market research sector; ability to link BI outcomes directly to business strategy and client value.
Demonstrated success in building and scaling BI teams across geographies.
Track record of data product innovation creating BI/analytics products that drive revenue or efficiency.
Strong business acumen: ability to engage senior stakeholders influence decisions and communicate complex data stories in clear business language.
Familiarity with AI in analytics (e.g. automated insights natural language queries predictive modeling) is a plus.
Experience in data governance metadata management and data stewardship frameworks.
Educational Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems Statistics or related field.
Masters degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred.
Continuous learning credentials (e.g. certifications in BI tools cloud platforms or data strategy) are an advantage.
