Position Profile


Responsible for the assignment of identification connections to the user community. Responsible for assisting in and maintaining agency standards procedures and guidelines related to security of information processing systems.


Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager this professional-level non-supervisory position interacts with all users of technology systems at the Administrative Office of the Courts Supreme Court Court of Appeals and all levels of Washington courts. This includes cross-division coordination planning and brainstorming to ensure user access to approved systems. This position works with general supervision by following documented unit policies procedures and desk manual. Direct supervision is required for any non-standard events. Decision-making is by established policies procedures rules and desk manual.

WASHINGTON STATE RESIDENCY AND TELEWORK INFORMATION


AOC requires employees to reside in Washington State. Any exceptions must be approved. If you are invited to interview and currently reside outside of Washington State seek more information about residency requirements from the AOC hiring manager of this recruitment.

This position requires at least 2 days per week working onsite at AOC facilities

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs customer service tasks by providing standard information related to user identification assignments and basic security access issues for system clients and court personnel.
  • Responds to questions regarding procedures processes and other related security access issues.
  • Responsible for keeping current with all published security policies and procedures that affect the Security Technician and the JIS client community.
  • Responds efficiently and effectively by reporting problems and proposed solutions.
  • Maintains accurate ticket generation records for all security activities performed.
  • Treats all security information as confidential and monitors for violations.
  • Creates/deletes both JIS (RACF) and Active Directory (AD) accounts for incoming and outgoing users.
  • Maintains dataset access rules and ensures they meet published guidelines.
  • Performs annual audits on court user ids.
  • Provides junior level support on JIS and AOC security assignments following documented procedures and processes.
  • Defines court users to the JIS systems.
  • Defines AOC users to the AOC systems.
  • Performs annual audits on JIS user permissions and settings.
  • Maintain the Dual Logon database for Court AOC COA and TOJ users.
  • Maintain the VPN Logon database for AOC COA and TOJ and contracted users.
  • Ensures users are created with the minimal level security requirements for their needs
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications and Credentials

Relevant experience or education may substitute for minimum qualifications on a year for year basis.


An Associate of Arts degree in computer science or closely allied field AND

  • Two years of experience performing routine security functions in a customer service data information environment.



THE IDEAL APPLICANT WILL ALSO HAVE SOME OR ALL OF THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE EDUCATION KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES


  • Possess knowledge of security related system utilities and applications such as the ones below. Responsibilities for these applications include learning designing documenting implementing troubleshooting and maintaining policies and procedures.
    1. Microsoft Active Directory
    2. IBM TSO
    3. IBM RACF
    4. Juniper SSL
    5. FreshDesk
    6. VPN/Duo Security
    7. JIS Security Roles
    8. SC Odyssey Roles
    9. CLJ-EJ Security Roles
    10. MFT/SFTP
  • Basic knowledge of Active Directory user administration
  • Proficient in utilizing Microsoft 365 products including Teams Outlook Word OneNote PowerPoint and others with expertise appropriate to the responsibilities of the role.
  • Able to prioritize workload to provide timely accurate clear and concise service to all who need it following documented SLAs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with peers to enhance and encourage collaboration on work products.

Supplemental Information

  • The workweek may fluctuate depending on workload or agency needs.
  • Overnight travel may be required based on business needs.
  • This position may be overtime eligible.
