Position Title: Child Nutrition Assistant
Reports to: Principal
Department: Cafeteria
Position Category: Permanent/exempt/part-time/10 month contract
Position Summary: The Child Nutrition Assistant performs semi-skilled and unskilled tasks necessary for the preparation and serving of meals and the operation and care of school cafeteria.
Job Scope: This position has no direct supervisory authority
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve food
- Operate standard commercial kitchen equipment
- Properly store and handle food items and supplies
- Maintain a clean and organized storage area
- Create and maintain positive communication with students administration staff and faculty
- Demonstrate a high level of flexibility and willingness to adapt to changes
- Meet all standards of local state and federal health and National School Lunch Program (NSLP) regulations
- Meet all dress code standards set forth in employee guidelines
- Maintain regular attendance
- Promote FWAFA in a positive manner within the school and community
- Perform other duties as assigned
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/ Environmental Factors:
Tools/Equipment Used:Computer kitchen utensils standard cafeteria equipment
Posture:Prolonged standing infrequent kneeling/squatting bending/stooping pushing/pulling and twisting
Motion:Frequent walking
Lifting:Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 25 pounds)
Environment:Work is located on campus site in a cafeteria; regular exposure to noise
Mental Demands:Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours
Minimum Education Experience and Certification:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Certified Texas Food Handler License required
Skills and Capabilities
- Knowledge of food handler safety
- Knowledge of methods materials equipment and appliances used in food preparation
- Basic Math skills
- Ability to carry out written and oral instructions; Ability to trouble-shoot and problem-solve
- Previous experience in food service
- Effective organizational communication and interpersonal skills
