| Duties & Responsibilities | Position Summary: The Global Education Office at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) is seeking a qualified and motivated finance professional to join our team as a Fiscal Assistant. This position provides essential fiscal and budgetary support including purchasing and procurement operations financial management and analysis account reconciliation and financial reporting. The Fiscal Assistant ensures compliance with university policies including ARMICS (Agency Risk Management and Internal Control Standards). Core Responsibilities Key responsibilities of theFiscal Assistant include but are not limited to: - Procurement:
Manage purchasing operations including submitting purchase orders processing P-card transactions and maintaining accurate financial records. - Travel & Expenses:
Assist with travel arrangements and process travel and expense reimbursements in accordance with university guidelines. - Account Reconciliation:
Reconcile financial and payroll accounts monthly ensuring documentation is complete and accurate. - Accounts Payable:
Address and resolve issues related to invoices receiving and other accounts payable matters. - Financial Record Keeping:
Prepare journal entries maintain financial records and ensure compliance with university policies and procedures. - Customer Service:
Provide finance-related support and customer service to the Global Education Office and collaborate with other departments as needed. |
| Qualifications | Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelors degree (preferably in accounting finance or business)
- 1 to 3 years of experience in a financial administrative role.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate financial records
- Demonstrated analytical skills including the ability to analyze financial transactions for trends and variances identify discrepancies and develop reports tracking tools and professional documents
- Strong problem-solving and time management skills with the ability to adapt to frequent changes prioritize tasks and manage competing deadlines
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a large complex organization both independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrated ability to work in and to foster an environment of respect professionalism and civility with a population of faculty staff and students from various backgrounds and experiences and a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced multitasking environment involving multiple projects and deadlines
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
PreferredQualifications: - Experience working in International Education
- Experience living or studying abroad
- Working knowledge of a foreign language
